Those who live in New York City know how the streets transform once the rain hits the ground, and last September 10 was not the exception. Pouring rain was the perfect background sound for Jessica Lynn’s big presentation. With a full venue, she catapulted herself into the Big Apple after showing her newest collection, Casa de Moda Spring 2016 during New York Fashion Week.
The Los Angeles based designer describes her brand as “a contemporary line that pairs California cool with New York City sophistication” and there is no question to that statement. The collection transmitted a sort of metropolitan vivacity that the city women are used to show whenever they are determined to dress to impress; with Casa de Moda, the task gets easier to accomplish. The pieces are edgy, sensual and allow the models to show their silhouette in a classy, subtle way. Tough accents like leather and the so called “seventh heaven jacket” were the pieces that caught my attention the most. There was also a lot of crop tops and not so basic blouses that gave the line a more modern feel, yet easy to wear from a regular day to a night out with friends.
In the midst of adrenaline, I got to interview Jessica Lynn regarding her future goals and what inspired her in the process of designing Casa de Moda. Lynn was inspired by her city, the sunsets in Los Angeles and the beautiful blue sky, “being in NYFW is a dream come true, I am extremely humble and grateful” she said. The fabrics used for her collection are very light weight because that was the feeling that she wanted the client to experience and also, environmentally friendly fabrics. When asked for what’s next, Lynn said: “Business as usual, I already began working with Fall Winter 2016.” Apart from being a hard worker, Lynn has something very clear: “Fashion is a never ending cycle and that’s what I love about it.”
For my first Spring Summer 2016 NYFW event, I chose to wear a black long sleeve chiffon blouse paired with burgundy slim-fit pants. It is a very casual combination that instantly sets a statement. The outfit might be described as a tough one but you can add a sense of sexiness to it when you accessorize it with some pointed-toe pumps as I did. Lastly, my hair was styled with a simple sleek parted ponytail, perfect for when you want to accentuate your facial features and just let your makeup speak for itself. I wanted a subtle makeup where the focus point was the contouring part as you can see in the pictures below, I combined it with Moulin Rouge City Color lipstick and the final touch to my look was some gold, silver and black flash tattoos that formed a long necklace, as seen on celebrities like Beyoncé and Rihanna. ¡Para estar a la moda!
Just remember to try new looks so you can experience your different senses of style but while doing so, make sure that you feel yourself. Never wear something because it is trending, wear it because you feel bella in it!
